A European Parliament delegation has arrived in Tirana today, ahead of the decision to open talks on Albania's membership in the European Union.
They will meet with the two mayors of the largest opposition parties -- Lulzim Basha and Monica Krygır -- and later meet Prime Minister Edi Rama.
The mission's chief, Tunne Kelam, told Top Channel that the European Parliament is ready to mediate for resolving the political crisis in Albania.
The “is in our common interest for Albania to receive the invitation to open membership talks”, he said, demonstrating hope that the current political crisis in the country could be resolved.
There is no other way! This will be our message that this is your duty and that of no one else; to achieve a national reconciliation in the interest of Albanians and Albania”, he said. /Tch/
