Turkey's President, Recep Erdogan, has said his country will not withdraw from the agreement to purchase the missile system “S-400” from Russia, just one day after the United States asked Ankara to consider their bid for the purchase of the system “Rayhen Co Patriot”.
Turkey has repeatedly reiterated that it is committed to buying the “system S-400” from Russia, despite NATO's warning that this system cannot be integrated into the alliance's air defence system.
American officials had set an informal deadline for Ankara to respond for the system purchase bid “Raytheon Co Patriot”, which costs $3.5 billion. They have said Turkey's move could affect the halting of the sale of American military planes to this state and the possible deployment of sanctions.
However, after returning from visit to Russia, where a summit was held for Syria, Erdogan told reporters that Turkey would not withdraw from buying the Russian system. “We've made arrangements with Russia and turning back does not matter. This job is done”, he said, writes “Reuters”, broadcast Gazeta Express.
