Today, Customs Union's ultimatum to the Government ends

The Kosovo government has until noon to return for customs officials the status of a uniformed public official and to ensure the invisibility of their salaries by the draft wage bill, otherwise the Independent Trade Union of Kosovo warns strikes. These two demands, officials of this union, were made present today in [...]
These two demands, union officials, were brought to a news conference today, where they also gave their own ultimatum to Government.
According to them, all of this has been done to protect the previous salaries and status of customs officials, who have had it until January 29th this year, when the Commission for Public Administration has amended the Public Sector Salaries Bill.
Zivarre Kemezi, a member of the leadership and at the same time head of the strike Council, announced that they have left space until today to see if their demands will be respected, Kosova Prees reports.
If our demands are not met, we have warned today of the strike that had to happen at 2: 00 a.m., at all the customs points and in the internal offices and other sectors, but we have postponed, because we have received information that from the meetings our chairmanship had with Finance Minister Bedri Hamza, after we have received promises, we will provide space for dialogue by 12:00 tomorrow. Otherwise, if these changes are not respected, and changes are made with additional amendments, then we will continue strike”, she said.
The chairman of this union, Ali Vitija, said they want the same rank as other security officials, such as the police and AKI.
According to him, the change from the status of the informed public official to civil servants for Customs officials conflicts with the Constitution and the Customs mission.
In contrast, Kujtim Krasniqi, deputy chairman of the Union, said through these requirements customs officials are defending their legitimate right.
