NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg prior to the two-day meeting of the member states' defence ministers, expected to be held on February 13th and 14th in Brussels, has also spoken about Kosovo, which will be discussed on the second day of this meeting.
Stoltenberg spoke of the KSF and even the government-set tax on Serbian products.
Some NATO member states are disappointed with the decision on tax”, Stoltenberg said.
Secretary General NATO said they would assist the KSF during the phase of its transformation into the military, but recalled that KFOR's mission would remain unchanged.
“KFOR has played an important role in maintaining stability throughout the Western Balkans. The mission of troops will not change, and we must have it clear. We will assist in changing the KSF's mandate, but we have not yet decided how we will do so, as some member states think this transformation is taking place at an inappropriate time”, he said.
Stoltenberg underlined that the KSF should take care to honour all agreements, including the one barring its presence in the country's north without KFOR's preliminary approval.
