European Integration Minister Gifted Hoxha has confirmed that the path towards visa liberalisation with the European Union has been made difficult because of the European Parliament elections, which will be held in May of this year. While opposition MPs say visa removal will happen neither this year
The European Union is dismissing Kosovo's hopes of lifting as soon as possible visas, as there is no positive movement towards liberalisation by September last year.
In fact, the path to liberalisation only became difficult on the eve of the European Parliament elections, which will be held in May of this year.
Minister of European Integration, Gift Hoxha, has admitted to the newspaper “Voice” that Kosovo's path towards liberalisation has been difficult.
According to her, visa removal does not depend on Kosovo institutions, but on EU member states.
“The road to liberalisation has been difficult, but we will not stop lobbiing, regardless of whether the European Parliament elections will be held in May. Already in these two months it is difficult to be a priority of European Parliament deputies, until the entire EU's commitment to elections in the European Parliament has begun, but our work will not be stopped”, Minister Hoxha has said, adding that visa removal will not be able to enter into order day without ensuring the consent of EU member states.
