Just two months after entering power, the decision that prohibits the import of old cars is expected to be annulled.
The Energy and Tourism Ministry have started working on preparing the new decision, but it still remains unclear whether all vehicles used will be allowed, regardless of the production year, or there will be an increase of age allowed from 10 years to an older age.
The decision to prevent the import of cars older than ten years was trumpeted by the government as a move that would significantly reduce environmental pollution.
Prime Minister Edi Rama himself through a Facebook forwarding, had informed us that 80 percent of Albania's vehicles are in a euro certificate of 3, old-age production, and caused three times more pollution from normal levels.
But after objections from secondhand vehicles, the government seems to have withdrawn and changed its stance entirely, restoring their import, regardless of pollution.
Currently, the average age of vehicles running through Albania's roads is among the highest in Europe, about 20 years, while most EU countries have set solid criteria in this direction, allowing only euro certificate 6 vehicles in recent years, wrote tch.
