“Portret of a ma'am” was discovered on Tuesday at one of the outer walls of the modern gallery's court of Ritchie Odie in Piaceza in the country's north.
The site where the painting was hidden was protected by a metal door, and it was discovered by gardeners who cut herbs in the courtyard and then summoned to the staff of the gallery.
The painting was wrapped in a black plastic bag, but an employee at the gallery immediately recognized Klimt's work.
It is said that the painting is in excellent condition and lacks nothing, and is believed to be authentic.
The painting is one of a series of female portraits that Klimt painted near the end of his life, 1916-1918, and she disappeared in February 1997.
