No home economy, businesses and factories had electricity, and total power cuts were confirmed by Enemalta, a state power supply company.
The reason for that is the problem with the cable that drives Malta from Sicily.
The first cut in nationwide electricity on November 26th was also due to a cable malfunction from Sicily to Malta.
Malta has its own capacity to supply electricity across the island, but Enemalta usually relies on supplies from Sicily because of the cheaper cost.
Electricity stopped at eight o'clock in the morning while it was working on restoring the normal situation.
The last “in Malta comes at a complicated time, just two days before Christmas, so people couldn't afford credit cards. Malta Airport has not been affected by power cuts, since it uses aid generators.
