Thaci-Kurdish meeting, constitutional deadlines for forming government

The head of state has invited the chairman of the winning subject of the 6 October elections to a consultative meeting to understand who will give the mandate to form the government.

Thaci even decided on one day after two invitations to meet Kurt today at 10:00, but the latter offered to meet him on the first Monday of the new year, January 6.

In terms of deadlines for prime minister, political and constitutional circumstances connoisseur Mazum Baraliu told Kosovo Press that Article 95 of the Constitution and envisions since Albin Kurti is mandated by the president for prime minister, comes the first 15-day term for forming the government.

If there is no vote for that, there is another 10-day deadline, and if not afterwards, the president announces new elections within 40 days.

But the next article, that 85, for Baraliu, envisions that the prime minister's mandate for prime minister, from the day it is mandated has about 60 days to form the government and, after that, again, declare new elections.

Aside from those provisions that are not allowed to offer the second party mandated, it is a 2014 decision by the Constitutional Court, allowing the second and third parties to offer their candidate for prime minister after the first party's failure.
