Muharrem Salihu, member of the Municipal Assembly of Medvedja, says the rights of the Albanian community there are continuing to be overstepped by Serbia.
It brings to the attention with concern, the removal of a large number of Albanians' civil registry, resulting from 8 thousand people, according to statistics, only 1,000 Albanians.
This, for Salih, has removed the Albanian community there not only the right to vote, which was noted in the recent elections, but also deprives it of property rights.
The situation in Medvedja is quite dramatic. This started in 2012 was marked in 2015. Of the 8 thousand Albanians today, only one thousand Albanians --” -- said Salihu of the Voice of America.
Salihu also talks about the role of Pristina and official Tirana, in the function of protecting Albanian community rights living in three municipalities in southern Serbia.
“Pristina is not likely to do so because Serbia is opposing citizenship, and it is not ready for our problems to be put on the table. We cannot boast of Tirana's commitment either. It's been 20 years since the war and we don't have textbooks in Albanian”, Salihu said.
