Scientists in panic: Something Is Flying Toward the Earth

This is an ancient ice, gas, and dust comet, formed in the ice straps of a distant star, driven by gravity on its way to us, writes Washington Post.

For astronomers, this comet is a very small package of data from space a part of a distant country that the human race will never reach, the key to all worlds that we cannot directly observe.

This is just the “intermediate” that scientists have seen in our solar system. And this is the first such comet that they've managed to explore well. By conveying the movement and studying comet composition, researchers look for clues about where it came from and the space it flew into our system.

They have already found a carbon-based molecule and perhaps two known chemicals in an alien object.

Scientists have identified thousands of worlds beyond our solar system - gas giants and small rocky spheres, world lit by dark red sun and those surrounding the staggering remains of extinct stars.

There are even planets that spin a yellow-sized sun like ours, although nothing found so far can match the atmosphere of air and oceans like Earth.

Yet, even when viewed through the most powerful telescopes, the exotic are visible no more than a flash of light, and the journey to the nearest star would last some 40,000 years.

Points on the horizon Reveal Secrets

The scientist's best chance of a more thorough examination of another solar system was the arrival of a portion of it.

On August 30th, astronomer Genadi Borisov scored a pale spot on the horizon, barely known in the background of star shine, and briefed the Centre for Small Planet for its discovery.

Within weeks, scientists had gathered enough data to calculate the orbit of a comet. But they did not find the oval road with which comets usually move around the sun. On the contrary, the orbit was hyperbolic. It was not automatically closing. The object also travelled at an extraordinary speed of about 145,000 miles per hour, much faster than any comet, asteroid or plans that revolve around our sun.

David Farnochi, a navigation engineer at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, was among the first to find the comet of origin from another system.

In our solar system, there is only one other interstellar object: a cigarette - shaped rock called “Oumua”.

But Oumuaua was already out of the system when it was discovered in 2017, and it was so weak that scientists could never study it in more than one pixels of light. They were not quite sure what they saw was a metal, a rocky asteroid, or an ice comet?

New comet, called 2I / Borisov in honor of the astronomer who first noticed him is expected to be available to the telescope by autumn 2020. According to its nearest approach, next month will be twice as far from the Earth as the earth is from the sun.

Although this comet entered the Solar System from the direction of the Cassiopeia conspiracy, scientists do not yet know where exactly 2 came from. I/Brisov, or how long she flew into the outer space.

In view of its current speed, they are convinced that it has travelled for millions of years, if not billions
