What the personalities who died in 2019 declared

Scientist, mediator, city president, designer and world-renowned cosmonaut died in 2019. They have left behind works, memories, and even talks that will be remembered throughout their offspring.

The following are some statements that famous figures that are no longer said in their careers.

Pawel Adamowicz, chairman of Poland's town of Gdansk, died on January 14th at the age of 53, after an operation, having been stabbed a day earlier at a charity concert in this town.

In the late hours of January 13th, he was addressing the concert audience, and he said:

“Gdanscu is generous. Gdansk shares good. Gdanscu wants to be a city of solidarity. For all this, I thank you, for in the streets and squares of Gdansk, you have given money, you have been volunteers. This is a wonderful time to share what is good. You're all very good. Gdanscu is the best city in the world” Tony Mendez, former agent of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in the United States, who has organised smuggling six American hostages outside Iran in 1980, has died of Parkinson's disease on January 19th, at the age of 78 in Meriland.

In an interview with the journalist's GPS programme, Fared Zakaria on CNN, in an episode where the location, which was originally published on October 14, 2012, he was declared for the hostage crisis.

The flight to Tehran is not uncommon. We know that the job can be done much better if you're at the scene, because the worst thing that can happen is that the six inexperienced people make a mistake and everybody gets into trouble”.

The iconic clothing designer, German Carl Lagerfeld, died after a brief illness on February 19th, at the age of 85 in a Paris hospital.

On July 7, 2015, he said about the news agency, Reuters:

“Moda is not necessary. There may be other problems in the world that are more important, so this is not a problem, but the fashion is industry and industry has to go on with time. If the fashion doesn't work on time, the fashion may lose”.

Former Republican Senator in the United States Richard Lugar, who has played a key role in establishing a programme under which Soviet nuclear and chemical weapons were destroyed after the Cold War, died on 28 April at the age of 87 in Virginia.

On May 31, 2017, he held a lecture in an international organization in New York City and said:

I spent most of my time praying and working for a world without dangerous nuclear weapons. Although I know that it is unlikely that during my lifetime, this is a dream of the future when mankind's intentions to feed the hungry, heal the sick, preserve the planet, and increase understanding can be realized without the threat of nuclear weapons”.

Italian director Franco Zeffirell died 15 June at the age of 96 in his home in Rome.

In an interview for Spanish public television RTVE, April 21, 1980, he said:

I'm always open for dialogue. Maybe it was one of the secrets of my success. I've always talked openly about everything I wanted. I've always said what I thought”.

Former Egyptian president, Muhammad Morsi, a former high figure in the now banned Muslim Brotherhood movement, is reported to have died of a heart attack at the age of 67 on 17 June. He lost consciousness during a trial in Cairo, where he faced charges of spying.

Speaking on May 10, 2012, during a campaign for presidential elections, in response to a question about whom he would appoint as vice president if he won, he said:

“Definitely not someone who is connected to the previous body regime”.

Japanese diplomat Yukia Amano, director general of the International Nuclear Energy Agency, has died 18 July at the age of 72.

After signing the nuclear agreement between Iran and world powers in July 2015, he has issued this statement:

I welcome this agreement, which will include verifying the work of the International Nuclear Energy Agency in Iran. Divisions, the Agency and Iran have agreed to draft a plan that sets a date to be clarified about the past and current issues by the end of this year”.

Tunisia's president, Bayy Caid Essebs, the first democraticly elected president in this state, has died on July 25th at the age of 92 at a hospital in Tunis.

On October 9, 2015, in response to reactions to the division of the Nobel Peace Prize for Dialogue National Quartet in Tunisia, a group of organisations of this state, he had said:

There is no solution to his problems except dialogue. Despite all differences and despite other ideological and religious divisions, we have to follow the path of dialogue”.

Zimbabwe's former authoritarian leader Robert Mugabe has died of cancer on 6 September, at the age of 95 in a Singapore hospital.

On his 88th birthday on February 20, 2012, during a television address by the capital of Harare, he said:

“People will choose the successor. People have chosen me. According to their wisdom, members of the ruling party will certainly choose someone when I say I am retiring. But not now. At this age I still have time, right?

The former French president, Jacques Chirac, has died after deteriorating health on 26 September at the age of 86 at his home in Paris.

On March 10, 2003, he announced that in the UN Security Council, France would vote against the use of the military force against Iraq.

There is no need for war in order to achieve the goal we aim, disarming Iraq”.

Russian cosmonaut Alexei Leonov, the first man to walk in space, died on October 11th at the age of 85 at a hospital in Moscow.

On March 18, 1965, he said from Soviet space headquarters:

I'm feeling great. I'm over the Caucasus. I can see the Caucasus beneath me”

Alexei Leonov was the first cosmonaut to walk in space.

Iraqi citizen Ibrahim Awad Ibrahim al-Bandari, leader of the militant group, the Islamic State, which has been recognised by name, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, has been killed on October 27th at the age of 48 years during a raid by US Special Forces. He was hiding in Barisha village in the Idlib province.

American President Donald Trump, speaking from the White House, has announced this about al-Baghdad's murder by American forces.

The brutal killer, the one who caused so many murders, has been violently eliminated. He can't hurt any innocent men, women or children. He died like a dog. He died a coward. Now the world is much safer”.
