Muja: If there's no deal V V- LDK, new elections held in May

The Central Election Commission certified the results of the 6 October elections on 27 November, but still does not have an agreement between the two parties -- Vetevendosje, which came first and the LDK that came in second in the election. This agreement has stalled since the LDK insists that presidential office be included. [...]

This agreement has stalled as the LDK insists that the presidential post be included, which is being refused by the Vetevendosje Movement.

But there is one who speaks optimisticly of a coalition between the two parties.

Political analyst Armend Muja even thinks the coalition will happen soon. Muja is convinced that soon there will be a constitutionalisation of the Kosovo Assembly.

I think there will be a coalition between these two parties, and I'm saying this for several reasons, and among other things, the need for Kosovo to approve the budget that was approved on October 31st in Government because at the end of February, the government stops because there are no means to function more. I also think that parliament will be constitutionalised and then after the union the parties still have time to continue. The constitution will be silent about how many days and weeks they have to go. I think that parties should take as much time as they need in order to eventually come to a choice, which is, however, a change from past governments and I had not seen the long and unusual discussion, yet what is important that we as voters and thinkers have been against creating governments just to step on and go, but we wanted to create a government that has clear mandate, clear legitimacy<2>, Muja told Kosovas.

Regarding the LDK's request for the presidential post, Muja estimates that this party should understand that the Vetevendosje Movement came first in these elections, but that Vetevendosje should also make concessions.

“LDK is not the first party, it's the second party. The easier you understand the better. Vetevendosje must understand that it must make concessions to accommodate demands that are necessary by the government partner. In the president's work it's very logical that we can't vote on a president who doesn't know who he is, and here I think Vetevendosje is right. It is Vetevendosje's right to insist on having a candidate even from the LDK to be tested in the people and also to have a popular legitimacy”, Muja said.

In terms of whether the LDK will create Government with any other party if Vetevendosje as first in the 6 October elections fails to establish institutions, Muja said it would be a scenario lacking courage by the LDK.

Therefore, political analyst has advised the Democratic League of Kosovo to exploit this moment for being part of Kosovo's next government.

According to him if the coalition between the VV and LDK does not happen is likely to go to the polls in May, and the main battle he sees between Vetevendosje Movement and wartime-wing parties The PDK, AAK and Initiative, as according to him the LDK will be weakened by passing as the third party compared to the October 6th elections.

This is the time period the country was supposed to go to May, as well as the election campaign. In the next election I think there will be a camping between these two, the main battle will no longer be VV with LDK. Key battle to be Vetevendosje with former wartime parties PDK-AAK-NISMA, while LDK no longer sees it as important political parties. So it's important that the LDK use this moment if it wants to influence the country's course and direction... I have confirmed Vetevendosje now has support over 30 per cent, while the LDK has less support than it had in past elections. This is certainly”, Muja said.

We remember that the Vetevendosje Movement and the Democratic League of Kosovo have held numerous meetings, even warning of intensifying meetings aimed at a government-building agreement.
