Russian diplomacy chief Sergey Lavrov has criticised the European Union for its failure to resolve the Kosovo issue.

The European Union has shown its inability to resolve the Kosovo issue, Russian diplomacy chief Sergey Lavrov has said.

It for “Telegraph.rs” has commemorated that dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina in Brussels has been suspended, and now a long period of time no signs of its continuation are seen, news broadcasts.

“Currently, from a point of view, there are no preconditions for new dynamics in resolving the Kosovo issue. In Kosovo chaos continues to prevail after election and the power struggle. The EU's medium-sized influence in large measure has been devalated”, he said.

In the question of what is the main obstacle, Lavrov has said the EU is still unable to influence Kosovo Albanians so that they are put under pressure to have construction approaches to talks with Serbia.

For example, by 2013, Pristina sabotages fulfilling obligations for the creation of Serb majority municipalities. Now more than a year has not been lifted by the discriminatory tax on Serbian goods the Kosovo government has imposed on”, he said, broadcasts news.net.

Responding to the question of how Moscow sees resolving the Kosovo issue, the Russian diplomacy chief has said Russia supports reaching the agreement, which is in line with UN Security Council Resolution 1244.

He has added that the solution should be in accordance with international law, to have Security Council approval because it is about ensuring international peace and security.

Lavrov has said Russia will be reconciled only to a decision Serbia will be pleased with.
