A conference of importance for Balkan countries, which had several points on the agenda aimed at integration and co-operation, is held in Pristina. The conference was organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo and the Kosovo Economic House (OEK).
Representatives of the Western Balkans' economic interests, representatives of various local and international institutions were also present at this conference
Safet Gerjaliu, secretary general of the Western Balkans' Investment Forum in Trieste, Italy, said more co-operation is needed among Western Balkan countries to open the clear prospects for integration into the large European family.
It's time to get rid of the past and populism. The future of the Western Balkans is economic development, with co-operation the lost trust of young people will return. For the private sector for years to come, it will be a challenge, as youth is the future of all”, he said.
According to him, integration into the European family is not only political but economic integration. “Dialogue and regional partnership is important for having more co-operation. Economic development creates social stability which in the Balkans has often been fragile”, he said.
Gerxhaliu estimated that rule of order and law is a prerequisite for having more prospects and absorptions of investments in the Western Balkans.
