The EU office in co-operation with the Council of Europe organised the “Project against economic crime in Kosovo”.
In this regard, with particular emphasis, the “Grat against corruption -- taking into account gender perspective in anti-corruption commitments”, where it was said women in this regard are less prone to corruption.
EU Office representative Ricardo Serry said the fight against corruption must be daily.
“The war must be daily, and it is international and local institutions that are involved in this war. As the EU this week we have been active and it has been a difficult week because there has been political vacuum for a long time. PECC aims to bring Kosovo to the level of European standards for fighting corruption and money laundering. It wasn't scientifically proven, but there are studies of gender connection and corruption”, he said.
He said that both men and women influence corruption, but women are more susceptible to corruption.
According to him, women are likely to be exposed to corruption during medical services.
Corruption remains worse as regards women. Women are less corrupt than men. I remind you that corruption remains a major challenge in Kosovo, widespread in Kosovo and affects our lives. It will take a long time to change”, he said, the Online Economy reports.
Swedish Ambassador to Pristina Karin Hernmarck Ahliny said women are less prone to corruption.
“As a starting point, corruption works in interconnection between power and opportunity. There can be no question whether women are less prone to corruption, they have less power and less opportunity. Access to health, impact on women corruption, women are more influenced by political involvement than men, and they have not learned the roles from the start how to deal with corrupt societies. Even in Kosovo they should know that nepotism is corruption”, she said.
The former chairman of the Parliamentary Commission for Legislation, Albulen Haxhiu, hopes that next year will begin with a greater commitment to fighting corruption.
She said she disagrees with what women may be less corrupt than men.
“I hope we start our new year with anti-corruption commitment. It belongs to all of us whether we are men or women, whether we are responsible for both genders. I disagree with that women are not corrupt and men are. It's because it's about gender, but the mind that someone stands for is man or woman. As regards fighting organised crime and corruption belong to two genders and the entire society”, she said.
She said the reason why Kosovo faces corruption because we have not had full attention to fight it.
The “Investors who are facing the first requirement are the tribute and have declined to invest in Kosovo. When we fight crime and corruption, we have job openings and economic development”, Haxhiu said.
According to Haxhiu, Kosovo has had to have Special Prosecutor dealing with fighting corruption.
The director of the Anti-Corruption Agency, Shaip Havolly, said 42 percent are women in this agency, and this shows that she has great faith.
The question of cases, there are few cases that women are involved in administrative offenses, but compared to men, the lesser percentage. We have 42 percent of female composition in the Agency, which shows that he has greater faith”.
According to him, there is progress in fighting corruption.
“But without political will there can be no fighting corruption”, Havolli said.
Havolli hopes that “The license for the Signals” will find application and influence the fighting of corruption.
Project official P ECK II, Vlora Marmulaku, said it is being discussed on this topic, which has less attention from society.
