The law will regulate the payment of employees who receive salaries from Kosovo's budget for the first time.
By this law, the highest co-fficiency is 10 and the lowest is 1 and the first year's monetary value of the cofficient will be 239 euros.
The president's salary, the prime minister of many others, will be lowered.
Under the Law, Kosovo's president is expected to have the highest salary and will be paid according to the coffient 10, until the chief parliamentman, prime minister and president of the Constitutional Court will be paid with the cofficient 9.
According to the prime minister of the Republic, Hashim Thaci will be lowered the current salary from 2,672 euros to 2,390 euros. Likewise, incumbent Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, who has the current salary of 2950 euros, with the new law, the prime minister's salary will be with the co-efficinant 9 or 2151 euros monthly (799 euros less than the current salary).
The law on salaries in the public sector will increase the budget for salaries by about 120m euros. The difference between wages, pensions and social aid is quite high.
Finance Ministry officials have indicated that the budget is sufficient for covering the financial costs envisioned under the law.
Economic connoisseurs consider this increase in public sector wages could harm the private sector in Kosovo.
The salary law was adopted by the Kosovo Assembly on 2 February.
