A record six tons of cocaine has been seized, which is being described as the biggest obstacle for traffickers in Uruguay's history.
Marine and customs officers seized 4.4 tonnes of drugs at the port of Montevideo, which was hidden in four soybeans, destined for Lome, the capital of Togo.
Another 1.5 tonnes were later found on a farm, reported in local reports.
Total drugs are estimated to have an estimated $1.3 billion worth of market value.
Uruguay is increasingly being used as a transit point to move drugs from Latin America to Africa and Europe.
