Air pollution threat to Kosovars, overloaded traffic problem

Wintertime is a very problematic season for residents of Pristina, Fushe Kosovo and Obliqi. In Kosovo, air polluting is numerous, and the quality of the air is apparently worse during the October period of February.
As for the main air pollutants, environmental experts allude that causes that make air polluted are the Kosova A and B thermal power plants, the use of coal, but also overloaded traffic.
Agron Bektash, an environmental expert, says of IndexOnline, that non-discovery with central heating in the capital increases the use of fuels, resulting in pollution.
The <> <> The air rate in Kosovo, especially in the last decade, has become a complex environmental issue and has started to have a big impact on Kosovo society. The most endangered part is the Pristina-Obilic-Obilic-Obilic-Fore Kosovo, where the situation is very serious, and it has been debated for years who are the highest air polluters in this region. There are other cities that are endangered by air pollution: Mitrovica due to heavy metal deposits, Drenas due to Fernikli, Elez Hani due to Sharcemim etc. Air pollution in Kosovo, especially in the region of Pristina, is the product of many related factors and co-operates depending on human activities, changes in seasons, temperatures, etc. The central warming in the entire city of Pristina increases the use of other materials for heating individual homes. The use of coal, wood, old oils and tires during the winter season, overloaded traffic, as well as power plants A and B are the most polluted in the Pristina region. In general, the main air pollutionr in Kosovo so far has been identified: energy- industry, individual family heating, traffic, construction outside space frames, waste deposits, businesses with non-adquate or suspicious technology, etc.”, Bektas said.
In addition Bektas, says that uncontrolled urban development and non-deception planning has contributed to the destruction of green spaces and air quality.
To take effective action in reducing air pollution, first need to identify resource polluters, monitor quality state and build a unique information and transparent system of air quality state. Uncontrolled urban development and planning not only needed space in Pristina, but in all major cities of Kosovo it has affected the destruction of green spaces and air quality. Nearly all the best spaces within cities are occupied with concrete objects, whether private buildings or administrative buildings or shopping malls. The general public should be informed immediately if there will be an increase in pollution and what measures Government will take in cases of large pollution, what urgent actions citizens must take and what measures they must take industry and businesses. Strengthening and collaborating with the Media and Civil Society even incompatible if we want environmental issues, and in particular air pollution, to be given the proper informational and transparent direction”, Bektas said.
