AAK responds positively to VV invitation in dialogue process

It has been more than a year since Kosovo-Serbia talks have been suspended, and now when the new government is expected to be formed, it is required that there be a involvement of all parties in the dialogue process. The winning election party, Vetevendosje Movement and its leader, Albin Kurti, has declared dialogue will [...]

Ramush Haradinaj, incumbent prime minister and chairman of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, declares that even though they will be in opposition, they will support the new government on any topic of national interest.

“We are interested in supporting it on any topic of national interest, so we do not take a damaging position for Kosovo. If we value not with the support of position, but if we appreciate that we support Kosovo we will support every subject. I have made a list of them on behalf of the Alliance, in which if the future government, the future institutions, we are not really aware of how the formation of government and institutions will go about seeing some difficulties, but whether we are on the topic of national interest, we do not undermine the country's” government, he says.

Asked whether the AAK is willing to co-operate with the government and be part of the state delegation for talks, Haradinaj told Kosova Prees that they support the country and that on the topic of national interest all should be together.

Why not, we support our country, our country's interest. You know how challenged I was, that I was left alone by the opposition, the opposition didn't support me, either by myself. PSD. We have prevented the division of the country, prevented many dangerous processes for Kosovo, is now not good with dim Kosovo or weakened Kosovo. We have to be on national interest issues together, democracy continues, today these won, tomorrow they win others, but national interest must preserve”, Haradinaj says.

In addition to the AAK, Kosova Prees has tried to take a position also from the Democratic Party of Kosovo and the Social Democrat Initiative, which will be in opposition, but officials of the two parties have not responded to the editorial interest of whether they will agree to be part of the delegation for talks with the Serbian state.

Consensus and the involvement of all political parties in the dialogue process are demanding civil society and political analysts.

Life Krasniqi from the Kosovo Democratic Institute says they have consistently demanded that the political spectrum build a broad consensus about the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue issue.

She says of Kosova Prees that they have demanded that Kosovo have a unique position, which is supported by all institutions in the country.

“to build the internal political consensus of political parties, but also on this consensus and this strategy also to lobby with our international allies in all European and global leaders to push ahead with Kosovo's stance. We have done this since we consider the Kosovo dialogue issue- Serbia is a matter of national interest, which goes beyond a political party, or a ruling coalition, but it is an issue that belongs to the entire political spectrum and all of Kosovo society. We know very well that if an agreement is to be reached between the two sides that agreement will be an international agreement and it will have to be ratified in the Kosovo Assembly, where, of course, opposition parties' support to push it forward, so 2/3 of the votes will have to push this deal forward”, she says.

Krasniqi adds that political parties in the country should become together in the dialogue process. That, according to her, would also affect Kosovo's position in these negotiations.

Therefore, we have also demanded that political consensus be built in the early stages of this process for this consensus to follow the whole process, guaranteeing an accountability, a transparency even among citizens. But even with a co-ordination between institutions, this is based on the good practices that even the world's other democratic countries have on matters of national interest, but above all, starting at the sole goal that Kosovo should in every way maintain its interest in this process, should guarantee the well-being of citizens in this process, and that can only be done when we have an internal cohesion and only when we manage to build a unique attitude. The positions we've previously seen have not been unique, and certainly since we have institutional leaders who speak in different voices or with different positions it directly hurts even Kosovo's position in these” negotiations, Krasniqi says.

That there should be involvement in the dialogue process and says of Kosovo, politicalologist Ramush Tahiri, under which dialogue with the Serbian state is a national issue and should all be involved.

“in dialogue so far have all been involved except the LVV, means everyone, in all forms, even in Vienna, even in Brussels. But it's practical for us that when you're in power it seems easier, and when you're in the opposition, you get more patriotic, you get more secular, and you start critical. Dialogue is the national issue of Kosovo and should all be involved. Whether they accept responsibility before history or responsibility toward the people. It would be fair to participate in dialogue and dialogue to be signed by the president or Kosovo prime minister by respecting constitutional principles and constitutional legitimacy”, he says.

The Kosovo-Serbia dialogue process was interrupted in November 2018, when Kosovo imposed a 100 per cent tax on products imported from Serbia.
