This year alone, over 70m euros were granted to veterans

Former Kosovo Liberation Army members are continuing to enjoy benefits from the state of Kosovo, reports news.net.

Every month, over 38,000 veterans receive pensions on behalf of their contribution to the last war in Kosovo.

However, a considerable number taking these pensions are considered illegal because the same was not part of the KLA.

Faik Zogaj, a former member of the Kosovo Liberation Army, has now launched an initiative for voluntary departure from the lists of false veterans.

For news.net, Zogaj says the initiative has had some success as 13 people voluntarily left.

For now, we have convinced 13 people. The initiative has paused a little because of the earthquake in Albania, but I believe we'll resume” very soon, Zogaj said.

This initiative seems to have positively influenced, because a certain number of people who receive illegal retirement as veterans have submitted to OVL to withdraw voluntarily from the lists, hence, the number who have voluntarily left these lists is greater than 13.

However, removing some names from this list of beneficiaries is not because there is a huge impact on the budget being spent every month on this category.

In statistics offered on news.net by the Ministry of Labour and Social Management, it has become known that only this year, for the pensions of KLA veterans, have been spent on the state budget of no less than 70m and 384 thousand euros.

Of the numbers seen, it is noted that compared to October, in November, about 67 fewer veterans received in retirement.

The amount spent this month from the state budget for the category is 6m of 381 thousand euros, compared to October, where 6m and 390m euros were spent.

Mostly money this year, for veterans was paid in April, exactly 6m and 423 thousand euros.

Kosovo's Special Prosecutor had filed charges at the Pristina Constitutional Court against 12 members of the Government Commission for the Verification of Vetran Status.
