“At least 7,000 people have been arrested in 28 of the 31 Iranian provinces since the start of manifestations that started on November 15th”, a spokesperson for the High Commissioner, Rupert Colville, said at a press conference.
“High Commissioner Michele Bachelet is deeply concerned by their terms of ban, their physical treatment and violation of their rights, as well as the possibility that a large number among them are accused of acts subject to the death penalty”, he added.
“I call on authorities to immediately release all manifestations who have been arbitrarily deprived of their” freedom, Bachelet underlined in a communiqué.
Manufacturations in Iran erupted on November 15th after the announcement of an increase in oil prices, amid an economic crisis burdened by US sanctions and affected hundreds of towns.
“Amnesty International” also stressed that at least 208 people were killed by Iranian security forces, confirming that the real balance of these murders is even higher. / A OVR
