About 14.7m euros are the expenses of Kosovo institutions only for official travel both inside and abroad in 2018.
In the past year, labor expenses were for 27 per cent, or 3.1m euros more than in 2017.
Of the 11 ministries that have reported, the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Ministry of European Integrations and the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning have spent mostly on labour.
In addition to large expenditures, there have often been misuse of resources from this category, especially from ministry officials.
So said today during the publication of a GAP Institute research on “The struggle for hire: the practices of public institutions around official trips”.
At the table held under the Week Against Corruption 2019, Nora Latifi Jashari from the GAP Institute said the wages constitute a significant amount of public money, while adding that the role of labor as an instrument is to enable public sector employees to participate in seminars, workshops, training and important state meetings.
She has encouraged officials to present these abuses to fight corruption.
A word of the case has also kept the American official Shawn Waddoups, who has demanded that the hire costs be as transparent and efficient as possible and not misused.
