Is New Yugoslavia Being Made? Analysts back Thaci not participating in Ohrid summit

The meeting of Western Balkan leaders at the Ohrid Summit is taking place in the absence of Kosovo Republic President Hashim Thaci, who yesterday clarified the reasons for which he has refused to participate in the meeting. On the other hand, “Mini-Schengeni” of the Balkans was named in essence as forming a “Yugoslavia”
On the other hand, “Mini-Schengeni” of the Balkans was named in essence as forming a new “Yugoslavia”, by LDK leader Isa Mustafa. Before the meeting began today, Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq said that by this end Serbia's citizens would be able to move freely, only with identification through Albania and Northern Macedonia.
Policy connoisseurs Shkelzen Maliqi and Africa Hoti have spoken about these developments for Periscope.
Maliqi has called the “excess”, Mustaf's statement about creating a Yugoslavia, adding that at least those who have served the former Yugoslavia system would not have to mention it very often.
These allegations that a new Yugoslavia is being created are a little bit excessive, it has to be seen what it's all about, I can't comment on it. Ideal allegations that a certain “of the New Yugoslavia will be created, that at least of those who have been in that Yugoslavia, or have served in it, should not be mentioned as often, because it is not at all about this, but, of course, I have to say so, it is an idea that can work, and turn into a very old idea that the Balkans among themselves should choose as many cases as they can, in the sense that they do not always depend on the reports of great powers, yet it is very delicate, but when there is co-operation, and when there's a good deal, the 1486, Malchi was expressed.
Thaci's non-participation in this one, Maliqi considers it a move that is very orderly, as according to him, this project without Kosovo makes no sense.
“As far as President Thaci is concerned about refusing to participate is in order, because without Kosovo, this kind of project would not make sense, while not explaining the work between Kosovo, and Serbia does not recognise or work to cancel Kosovo recognitions, it is good not to participate in these” meetings, Maliqi told Periskopi.
Even the politician, Africa Hoti, considers Kosovo's non-participation in this Sami proper, adding that such projects cannot be made among states that lack mutual recognition.
“The question of the free movement of sovereign states is the question of establishing them, if states see interest in such constructions, what is this being called “Mini-Schengen”. There can be no such projects in our region unless states have mutual reports and mutual recognition, which they do for Kosovo, virtually for the Balkans, as well as unalable, what is being known as “Mini-Schengen”, Hoti said.
Hoti said it is a pity that specific leaders are not accepting the reality for Kosovo.
Kosovo's subsumption is a disaster, the resulting trend that the appointed leaders are not accepting, it's really a pity, and I think it's not something that should bother us because the end these are late constructions now that have recently come, the outcome of which is Serbia's top benefit. It means that from all of this, Serbia can most benefit. Although other sovereign countries may gain, which decide to move free with similar IDs”, Hoti said.
According to Hoti, a “Mini-Schengen”, in the Western Balkans it is exactly the opposite of the former Yugoslavia.
This is not a “Mini-Yugoslavia”, it's exactly the opposite, because Schengen doesn't mean creating states, but only the freedom and possibility of free movement of people, which does not mean that a state is creating or entirely new ethnicity now, with this “mini-segen”. But this isn't about Yugoslavia. There is no element of Yugoslavia. It is Serbia's tendency to benefit and then dominant position in the Balkans. We don't talk about construction of new states”, says politicalologist Hoti.
At today's meeting at the Ohrid Summit, Northern Macedonia Prime Minister Zoran Zaev, Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq and Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, Bosnia and Herzegovina Council of Ministers Chairman Denis Zvizdzic and Montenegrin Economy Minister Dragica Sekulic, who will present the declaration with a list of priorities and measures to improve regional co-operation.
And concerning the participants in this summit, Maliqi said he has surprised the way this process has started, without preliminary consultation with all states that are part of the Western Balkans.
I am surprised that these three leaders who started this process have not consulted Kosovo earlier, Bosnia, Montenegro, as there are six countries allegedly to be in our share. I don't have much doubt about this initiative as such, and Americans supported it a few days ago, as a form of internal liberalisation of these six countries. We with IDs can travel to some countries, it's not innovation, it's just an easy communication”, Maliqi said.
Maliqi said Kosovo should first clarify the tax issue with Serbia, as one of the first issues to be resolved, without participating in meetings of this kind, which, whatever it is, should be clear what it is about and what is the purpose of these meetings.
Kosovo currently has the problem of saying trade struggle with Serbia, tax work, first should be clarified and then become part of this project. In principle, though, it is not a bad idea, especially if it is followed by Western financial support and its project as such. Not only because of tax, but many other issues, economics, but this may be an initial adjustment, which may gradually serve in internal reliefs or balances. For Kosovo it is very important to become completely equal to Serbia. But the initiative itself needs to be better clarified and understood which ones are, whether they are market liberalisation and communications, is something that can compensate for this absence or the obstacle that Europe has already done to virtually the entire region, especially Kosovo, but also Albania and Macedonia, the job that the wider market or the regulation of internal reports in the Western Balkans creates opportunities for a larger market, for economic development of everyone single but also for foreign investment. Only of course there are even problems with some of the smaller states that can be dominated by Serbia's economy, which is the largest”, Maliqi explained.
However, according to Africa Hoti from these meetings, the biggest winner is Serbia, since as a super-power in the Western Balkans economy, Serbia is working for its own interests, on three different fronts and is working to get everything to their advantage, and according to him, Kosovo does not have what it exports, so it does not require participation in these meetings.
So Serbia's war is orient on three fronts. The first is negotiations on the EU, and anyone who is willing to join the EU, the natural link to birth, the russ and the Euro-Azia, and the third as they work with them, at the same time want to be a determining factor, the key factor in the region, and to achieve this standard, they give ideas about <x1 minus <x1 minus”, and if they do, then they name it as they want”, said Hoti for Peripsko.
On the other hand, Shkelzen Maliqi said there will come a moment when Serbia will recognise Kosovo, and that Kosovo should adjust relations with neighbours, since the goal is to become part of the European Union.
The European Union has hundreds of thousands of regulations for every segment of life that equates and allows everyone to be equal. This is just one initiative and we need to see it this way, like something that's hindering us, we're also aiming to become part of the European Union and are expecting all the same things that are being rejected here. We have neighbours and we have to fix relations with them, but the precondition is recognition of Kosovo, with Serbia as a whole operating project. It means that at one point Serbia will recognise Kosovo as an independent and equal state”, Maliqi said.
As for the Serbian president's statement, Vuciq, both policy connoisseurs, Maliqi and Hoti said that practically Kosovo can only move with identification to some of the Western Balkan countries, excluding only Bosnia.
“We practically have this, with Macedonia, with Montenegro with Albania, we travel with IDs, maybe it would be in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but to say so does not mean political integration, but only reliefs in the relationship of different types, for each thing should be adjusted”, Maliqi said.
President Thaci gave yesterday the reasons for which he has refused to attend the Ohrid Summit.
