Authorities have asked people to stay away from the streets after a driver lost his life as a result of a tree that was uprooted from the strong wind. There are about 300 thousand people left without electricity in several cities. Railway traffic has run into difficulties as well. Cars and trucks have remained trapped in the snow and many roads closed in the region. Up to 20cm of snow were registered at a low altitude by sea level and over 20 inches [30 cm] above 300 feet [300 m].
The BBC weather service has already warned of even more difficult weather conditions in Europe that have already faced the first snowfall, but also floods, in Venice.
The temperature according to this service will be low, and rainfall will be present throughout the next week. The entire central Mediterranean area will be at risk, from low temperatures, snowfalls in alpine regions, and floods in the lowest areas. Even the possibility of tornadoes in the Mediterranean is not ruled out over the weekend. All of this, within a polar vortex that has been created over the region.
