“On the eastern Euphrates Coast, they are doing everything possible to create a state structure and are urging Gulf states to make major investments aimed at creating a local administration based on Syrian democratic forces, Kurds and others. They seek to secede this territory from Syria and control the oil fields located there”, Lavorv said.
Also, Russian Foreign Minister has accused the US of obstructing its allies from investing in Syria's reconstruction and enabling refugee returns, allies that, according to Lavrov, include the NATO and EU bloc altogether. The value of reconstruction investments according to official Damascus totals $200-400 billion and will take at least a decade. The Russian minister has noted that many European countries have refused to invest even though they face growing social problems because of Syrian refugees.
