Former Serbian diplomat Zoran Millivoyevich believes Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, in France will receive three types of support from his counterpart, Emmanuel Macron.
Former Serbian diplomat Zoran Milivoyevic has said that at the Peace Summit in Paris, Serbia's president will receive support from French President Emmanuel Macro for Serbia's European path, “min with northern Macedonia and Albania, as well as for dialogue with Kosovo.
Millivoyevic, in a proposal for “Tanjug”, broadcasts news.net, said meeting and conversation between Macron and Vuciqi is very important and would prove that there is no EU survival without France, but also because of the differing Macron views.
“The meeting between the two presidents will be significant for a number of issues, primarily so that if it is possible for Macro to give us a closer look at his future EU view, a platform from which the EU will come out in the future and what will happen to enlargement policy”, Millivoyevic said.
According to him, Macron remains in line with his policies that promoted last year at the Western Balkans Summit in Sofia, when he said he would promote reforms within the EU -- namely, to correct any difficulties the EU has taken on.
According to Millivojevich, seeing this Macroni policy, Vuciq will receive three types of support from the French president.
We'll get three types of support. The first confirmation the EU is not giving up on Serbia, we will listen to the issue of mechanisms, but we will get support for our European path, as well as for Serbia's regional initiative “Schengen”, which pushes Serbia as a mechanism that is complementary to EU goals”, says Millivoyevic, adding that Serbia will also receive support for Kosovo dialogue on the basis of finding a compromise solution, broadcast the news further.
Millivoyevic believes that it is necessary for the EU to find a mechanism to somehow absorb the Western Balkans, and stresses that without that the EU concept cannot be discussed successfully, especially when the EU is facing Brex.
According to him, as for the Kosovo issue, Vuciq and Macron will discuss the condition that has been set for Serbia for EU membership -- that is, recognition of Kosovo's independence.
The “Theme that the two presidents will discuss, and which is especially important for us (Serbia), is the Kosovo issue, namely if the condition for Serbia's EU accession is recognition of Kosovo's independence. So if this condition is still valid and EU enlargement”, Millivoyevic said, adding that it is very important given Serbia's stance that it will not recognise Kosovo's independence, despite this is an issue of international interest, broadcast the news.net further.
According to the former Serbian diplomat, another topic expected to be discussed between Vuciki and Macroni is also <x0mini shengeni”, an initiative which Millivoyevic believes will receive Macroni's support, since, as he put it, through this mechanism, Serbia, Albania and Northern Macedonia in some way compensate for the uncertainty of EU enlargement.
Even according to Millivoyevich, the idea of <x0min engen” would help these three countries towards EU membership, as he put it, this idea is in line with EU philosophy.
