Car owners leave them parked for long periods on sidewalks or other public spaces, making it difficult for pedestrians to run.
According to Pristina municipality leaders there are over 1,500 cars that are not used and for years have not moved from parking lots of buildings, which, in addition to blocking public spaces, undermines the city's appearance.
Kosovo Police told Kosova Preiss that in a nearby plan, they will remove all defective vehicles that continue to stay in public parking lot.
In response to the Kosovo Police, they reportedly will remove cars that are parked in public spaces that businesses exploit or reserve only for their clients.
According to them, all this action will be done in co-ordination even with municipal inspection.
Kosovo's “Police are in the second phase of the operational plan “Freeloading has also revealed the removal of vehicles which are found defective and which are located in public parking lot. And we're also going to drive cars into spaces that businesses use for their clients, such as cars, auto service, and so on. However, there must be full coordination with municipal inspection. Kosovo Police, the Regional Directorate of Police, respectively, are planning to start with implementing this operational plan”, Kosovo Police sent to Kosovo Preress reportedly.
Out-of-use cars are also blocking sidewalks, and residents say they have been facing this problem for years.
They expressed concern for the fixed cars, which have occupied public spaces.
According to them, Kosovo Police and the municipality have not taken any action to remove these cars.
Ismail Ismail Ismail Ismail Ismajli, resident of the Lagea “dania” in Pristina, said that one of the biggest problems in this neighborhood are old cars which, according to him, have blocked parking lots and problems have become a problem for residents living in that area.
“Of course there are crowded obstacles in Pristina parking lots, but mainly old cars are one of the biggest problems blocking the parking lot for those living in that area or the neighborhood. I don't know how responsible the municipality is, but they have to deal with other bodies and try to drive these cars away because those other cars that take their seats are also harmful because they release the gases that are left inside those”, Ismaili said.
Hysen Gashi from Pristina said old cars are a major obstacle and, according to him, some have not moved since 5-6 months from parking.
We've been in a lot of trouble, but what I've been doing, it's a good weather since 5-6 months”, he said.
