Let me once again express my deep thanks, not only for the massive appearance of the October 6th elections, but also for the high civic education that brought a new democratic standard to the Republic of Kosovo. In this election you spoke through the most under-democratic act of voting. As of today, after announcing the results by the CEC, your vote will speak through the new parliamentary institution that will emerge from the certificate of elections by the CEC tomorrow. In this case, let me also thank the winner of the elections by wishing you good and successful jobs.
I've laid my political path almost 10 years old on two fundamental principles I've always been loyal to. They are the progressive universal values of equality, solidarity and justice, and socio-democratic economic development that puts the little majority at its centre. These principles have guided me politically so I can run them institutionally.
In the October 6th election you spoke, even louder. Today, after the official announcement of the results, I cannot ignore you. On the contrary, your vote I listened with high attention and full sincerity. To respond to this, I have since today resigned completely from my positions within Social Democrat Party structures, taking responsibility as head of the parliamentary group and member of the leadership.
Deeply believing that social democracy is the only way forward, and the Social Democrat Party must be the student of social democrat policies, I will be in full support of the new party structures, but not in decision-making positions. But let me point out that my resignation is not despair, or to prephrase English poet J. R. R. Tolkien “punishment is only for those who see the end beyond doubt.” I don't see it. What I see is courage and hope... and the future.
Finally, let me thank all my colleagues and colleagues, friends and friends, family, and all the others who supported me in difficult times and in moments of joy, on my political journey.
Beyond politics, life will continue where I will willingly devote myself to my professional and capital work. What remains the same is my commitment to protecting my fundamental principles of equality and social justice and complete solidarity with the oppressed.
Thanks again, goodbye on the new road.
