Citizens are concerned with polluted air until they mention the negative effects it is bringing to their health.
Meanwhile, the measurements set by the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, donated by the Japanese government, are seen as a positive step by citizens, but they require more air protection.
Islamic citizen Mendjiqi says the presence of polluted air is also in the neighborhood where it lives at “Landbash” known as the park.
And also on Earth, when I'm gone, when I come I have to clean my hands out of the dust, the disaster air is.
If I've seen them set the meter, but nowhere in the world, there's no such thing, the factory's already had it, but it hasn't been like this.
And fellow citizen Ramadan Cajtazi says that even the windows cannot open during this season because the air is very bad.
We're opening the windows inside so you can stand, even when the fog falls it gets very bad”, he says.
Another citizen, Mustaf Munishi, shows that he has seen the measure for air quality, but according to him, steps should be taken to clear air, as the situation is very bad.
We've seen that the meter is set, but it's nothing, so you can pass the air that by measuring it, we know exactly how it is. The air is never, never remove it, the worst air ever, said he.
And the Ministry of Environment and Space Planning(MMPH) recognizes that the state of air quality is bad.
Leutrim Sahiti, political adviser to Environment and Spatial Planning Minister Fatmir Matoshi, says that with the installation of 8 air quality measures stations, citizens will be announced in real time for the pollution level and in this way the awareness of what citizens can contribute to this.
The situation we're in is bad, and that's what the software system we installed on. Of the 8 stations we have in Kosovo municipalities that monitor air quality, we have all of these stations integrated into software that shows the air quality data from these 8 stations and citizens are able in real time online to look at the data regarding air quality, and besides that we've made the mobile application for iPhones and Android, and if we download this program looking for “air quality, he said, "EO."
“Monitoring is aimed at informing citizens and the public, but not only informing, but that each citizen reacts to reflect, if you see on the monitor that the situation is alarming if it burns fire not to burn me, that if you move by personal car to use public transportation, each of us on the basis of personal assessments regarding the quality of air reflect and influence how little you want to reduce that pollution”.
Sahiti guilty of polluted air made three factors -- thermal power plant “Kosova B” -- the many cars that circulate during the winter season, as well as family economies and businesses that use coal as fuel for heating.
“We have been introduced to the autumn season, where temperatures are rising as temperatures drop, the level of air pollution, because of meteorological conditions, growth in humidity, but also because of increased use of coal for heating, and because of increased traffic in urban areas in particular, the need for greater circulation of cars. Another factor is thermal power plant “Kosovo B”, which has not changed filters since 1984, and this poses a problem with pollution coming from this thermal power plant. We have three factors of thermal power plant “Kosovo B”, cars and family economies and businesses that burn coal, all these factors are affecting the level of rising air pollution, but determining remains the atmosphere conditions”.
Civil society is what has raised the high level of pollution alarm by reacting in various ways.
Dardan Abazi from INDEP for Online Economics has indicated that air quality is low and unhealthy.
He says immediate measures must be taken before the consequences are irreversible.
We've been having discussions about the matter of air quality when it's not low quality of air, currently air quantity has marked extremely large we're at unhealthy levels over 150 is the value today. Immediately measures must be taken to address the matter of air pollution before the consequences are irreparable”.
Ahaz says that as a civil society, he wants to see a Government that has serious intentions to design Kosovo.
“Now in the winter months most we suffer the fact that we burn coal and the long-term plan we want to see an ambitious government that sets ambitious goals to design the Kosovo energy market to completely design Kosovo and towards the green future, which provides both economic development and environmental protection and health, but also paves the way for Kosovo integration for the European Union”.
