Learning in Albanian in Germany still unfunded

The supplementary teaching of Albanian language in the diaspora continues to remain a challenge and one of the main concerns that have exiles. However, there is currently not enough interest from parents for children to follow lessons in Albanian, but the issue of payments for Albanian - language teachers is not yet regulated. Many of the schools [...]

Many of the schools in Germany do not pay for the supplementary teaching in the mother tongue of other countries.

They offer the school item, providing the students at those schools until they follow the instruction and description on the report card at the end of the year as evidence that the child has successfully followed the teaching in his native language.

But notes about it still do not get included in the rating system, and no fees are taken for teachers of these supplementary hours.

However, there are several countries in Germany where teachers of the supplementary hours are paid by the German state, while the rest of the teachers do the work on voluntary grounds.

The General Consul of the Republic of Kosovo in Frankfurt, Germany, Fatmire Musliu, says of Kosova Preris, that it is the duty of the state to secure payments for teachers of Albanian-language supplementary hours.

In the meantime, it shows that there is a lack of parental interest in sending children to follow the instruction in Albanian.

In the conversations we've had with the Ministry of Education and the Republic, they say that the payments and prosperity of learning in Albanian should be the competence of the mother state. And I think we need our country, Kosovo, to take over the payment of teachers in the diaspora, according to the hours they hold. They do not hold regular instruction, such as German - speaking teachers who have the greatest hours of time, carry fewer and on those hours at least a modest fee is made to facilitate their instruction. But the small number of children who follow this lesson is not very much related to the payment factor because there are very diligent, highly motivated teachers who offer this opportunity, but it seems to be the lack of parental interest”, she says.

She says they do not have well-being statistics on what the number of Albanian children is in Frankfurt schools, since not everyone enrolled in school declares their native language.

Any start of the school year, Germany's schools offer a form in which you can be marked by name and surnamed where the address book you list is what your native language is. Since Germany has had a huge wave of migrants in general in the last 2030 years, they also have it for their statistics to know by what nationality or nationality they are at school, they offer these forms to have accurate statistics. I had urged all parents to mark their children at every school year and to mark that their native language is Albanian, so that we have information that we have students in schools of different republics or municipalities in Germany, and to be equipped with more accurate information in our work, and to have stronger arguments in the conversation of the German side where we seek any support for Albanian language learning in Germany”, she says.

She says the main challenge and the greatest concern of citizens is the process of supplementary learning in Albanian.

Hence, it urges parents to care for the learning of Albanian for their children, since as it points out, if there are 10 children in a school who want to learn their mother tongue, then they could find a teacher and form a parallel.

Whatever association it is, whether it's sport or sport, who talks to the consulate, the main concern is the supplementary teaching in Albanian because they fear assimilation. We've analyzed many factors that play a role in the decline in interest, but the main factor turns out to be parental interest... Parents can take more seriously the preparation of their children and send their children to the schools that are in operation and where there are over 10 children we can open a parallel, contact us and provide, whether in conversation with the Germans we can help, assist, but also equip with school tools which the Republic of Kosovo offers for free, find a teacher, and make parallels to<1>, she says.

We remember that most of the Kosovo diaspora is located in Germany, Switzerland, France and Italy. So far, however, neither these states nor the Government of Kosovo has financed the supplementary learning in Albanian.
