During tomorrow's day, the two leaders of the parties that won the 6 October elections will meet. In an effort to form the next government, VV chairman Albin Kurti said that at Friday's meeting with LDK leader Isa Mustafa would open all topics including the division of ministerial posts and the issue of appointment of president after two years. However, Kurti insisted that the prime minister's post should not be put into balance with taking more ministries as stated by the LDK.
The candidate for prime minister warned that with the LDK, they should move towards forming the government because within days the certificate of results is expected, and within 30 days the session will be cooled.
I will meet with Professor Isa Mustafen, the LDK chairman. We will discuss the results of the two working groups that have negotiated harmonisation of our programme, which has been completed to the extent of over 80%. I hope we'll discuss what's left of it, including the program, as well as how it's best to proceed with the division of executive responsibilities. Since, of course, the recount is complete and the outcome is really final next week. So we have to move quickly towards forming the government because it will become the certificate of results... it's not necessarily that we will close all the topics, but it's time to open them”, Kurti said.
Not denying discussions of the president's appointment after two years, Kurti said the focus of the discussions should be on empty chairs, such as the prime minister and speaker of the Parliament that has remained without representatives.
“We will discuss with the LDK chairman on these issues, but our focus is empty chairs. And they are the prime minister, ministries, prime ministers, deputy ministers and I believe this is the most urgent task we have. Since things often stop an appointment, it is good to discuss these matters as soon as possible. Because the moment election results are certified, then the country's president has 30 days to call session”, Kurti said.
The VV leader prior to the meeting with unionists during the day said the separation of ministerial posts with the LDK could be questionable.
While asked about the statements by officials of this party that the prime minister's post weighs and as a consequence of this separation of ministries cannot be equal, Kurti said this cannot be so, as the prime minister has defined the people on October 6th and only has a winning party.
“The prime minister has defined the people of Kosovo on 6 October, ministries are controversial ... we insist on our programming harmonisation. There has to be another formula for sharing these responsibilities, but I can't speak now that I let this go and that is to say you're a kind of... it can't be that way, the prime minister has defined the people on October 6th, we've been candidates in the race, each subject that has been racing has had its own candidate for prime minister<1>, he said.
Kurt once again expressed determination to make a coalition with the Serbian List, but it was clear that a representative of them will receive a ministry in his government.
Two over weeks have concluded negotiations on VV and LDK working groups, and since then there has been no meeting between these two parties.
