Hysey: Tourism Law, Investment opportunities in Albania

The country's sub-chairman for tourism, which was recently approved, provides a good opportunity to invest in tourism in Albania”, said Albanian Deputy Speaker Vasilika Hysi, who participated in today's “Media & Tourism Ideas & Solutions”, organised by the Albanian Telegraph Agency in Tirana. Hysey said [...]

Hysey said I'm honored to participate in an audience where there are media professionals and second, that you have selected a very interesting topic, promotion of tourism and the role of news agencies.

Next, Hysey praised the role of media in promoting tourism.

Foreign agencies have been very good ambassadors for Albania promoting art, culture, history, tradition, Albanian hospitality and I have often felt proud. In media coverage, they've published the ugliest pieces that aren't reality in the country, and they've done it not only foreign but Albanian media, and they've left on one side what's good and beautiful in this country. I understand well how important the role of the media is, but and how many mistakes we make in politics that often give media information with our mistakes to do the opposite of promoting a country”, she said.

Hysey also said he would like to stress what the Parliament has done in terms of tourism, not only in the country, but in the region.

The first “, the Tourism Law, which was adopted recently, gives it a good opportunity to invest in tourism in Albania. The climate is liberal and favourable, which means there is a growing attractive market and people seek to explore and visit Albania. The second is the competitive labour costs in Albania. The average salary in Albania is favourable to invest in tourism in Albania, but simultaneously and to register a business which is either Stop Shop, less than one euro, within 24 hours. That's a relief we've created because of a legal package that we approved in the Assembly a few years ago. Another element is the population, as we have a new population after 57% of the population are under 37, nearly 100,000 young and young people are enrolled in Albanian universities' faculties and”, she said.

Next, Hysey stressed that “I am a professor himself, with many students possessing foreign, English, Greek, Italian, but French and German. Investments in tourism have enough and prepared human resources and I believe that through your noble mission you will be able to convey this message to encourage young people in the Balkan region and Albania to stay in Albania and contribute, as they have the potential for having greater investment not only domestic but foreign ones. Also important to tourism is taxes and the law, the fiscal package we have been through in the Assembly last year has enabled competitive taxes. We have no differentials between foreign and Albanian investors. We don't have this inequality, even what we say about the Added Value Tax, T We have 6% in the tourism hotel, while the VAT for other services is 20%”.

Hysey said the geographical position favours Albania in terms of tourism.

“also another reason that favours tourism in Albania is the geographic position. We have a very favourable geographic position. Connecting to Italy through Adriatic and Ionian ports, we connect with neighbours such as Greece through the green border with many crossing points, and finally we invest and another crossing point in the Qafe-world, but at the same time we have many other communication opportunities with Northern Macedonia, Kosovo, Montenegro and through investments through the railway network and transportation with Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina”, she said.

Hysey also said Albania is the second country in the Mediterranean for cultural historical works.

But what is most beautiful is that Albania is the second place in the Mediterranean for cultural historical works. 4,000 works, 10% of them are visited, and I have learned many from your coverages and we Albanians don't know them and they do more promotion to foreign tourists to Albania than we do, especially in politics, we, who often with the images and developments of the plenary sessions, create an image that gives a lot of food to foreign agencies to say who Albania is. In fact, it's not true, we're a minority ahead of all the beauty that this country has, but also the potential that has”, she said.

Finally Hysey said that “would like to believe that as parliamentarians we make an important contribution, as we have friendship groups with your countries and we can cooperate with each other to create packages and fiscal ease. I hope when you leave this meeting we have nice and promotional coverage for us”. / A T S/
