During a search conducted at a large construction site in Wolfsburg (Germany), customs authorities that have made the raid have found 12 foreign workers, illegally employed. A total of 60 workers in the workplace wrote dpa.de.
Since customs vehicles were approaching, three Albanian workers have tried to flee. After the search, it was found that they had no residence permits and no work permits in Germany. The same applies to nine other workers, all Albanians.
But eight of them have initially shown false identity documents to Eastern European countries that are EU members. Because customs officers have known this kind of fraud, they sent workers to the police centre for more accurate examination of documents and questioning.
Customs officers in this case have concluded that some of the workers have been unjustly receiving social aid or have been effectively registered as persons with independent activities.
Other investigation into the law on minimum wage is needed in some of the approximately 10 affected employers. The competent entity has closed a section of the site.
