France's Ambassador to Albania, Christine Vasac, has recently talked about the issue of negotiations with Albania.
In a press proposal following a visit to the town of Korca, Vasac explained France has never been against Albania.
She reaffirmed President Macron's words, through which it said their door was open but that interpretations of his statements are not correct. As for the Balkan minister, Vasac said that further strengthening of neighbourly relations between Balkan states is welcome.
“France has never been against, it's just a new approach. I repeat French President Emmanuel Makron's opinion after he has never expressed himself against Albania. There are simply some incorrect interpretations by people that do not correspond to the truth. France thinks the initiative should be undertaken to find a new way of functioning of the EU, both for members and non-member countries”.
“The door is open. However, reforms must first continue and have concrete results. It is not just the adoption of laws but also the application of them. Further strengthening of neighbourly relations between the Balkan states is welcome. I think that's today's inspiration among the conversationators in this mini-senge. There is no reason why to oppose Albania's journey to Europe”, Vasac said, writes Lapsy.
Meanwhile, Macron had said most countries opposed opening negotiations with Albania, but only some against Northern Macedonia. Splitting accession negotiations with the two Western Balkan countries would be a dangerous move, Macron said he praised the two countries' current progress.
