Failure to create new Kosovo institutions is negatively affecting European integrations

During this week, the Central Election Commission certified the outcome of the October 6th early parliamentary elections, but the Vetevendosje Movement as the country's most voted Democratic League and the Democratic League of Kosovo have not yet reached a joint coalition that would lead to the formation of the new government of the Republic of Kosovo. On the other hand [...]

On the other hand, civil society is seeking to create Kosovo's new institutions as quickly as possible and consolidate the Parliament, as according to them, non-creating institutions is negatively affecting Kosovo's integration towards the European Union.

Life Krasniqi from KDI tells Kosovo that any delay in building Kosovo institutions directly affects the welfare of citizens.

She views as necessary that as soon as possible consolidating the new government, which, according to Krasniqi, would be committed to implementing the European agenda, implementation of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement, respectively.

Whatever the delay, whatever it is, in building institutions, is in building a coalition and undertaking reforms that are necessary, whatever economic development in general, but also in European travel, directly affects the welfare of the state of Kosovo and society. Now we know we are ahead of a process where Kosovo has signed The SAA, the first and only contractual agreement with the EU, and we have seen that regardless of what the ERA is about, Kosovo institutions are not fulfilling all the criteria and requirements that come out of these documents. Therefore, it is quite necessary that as soon as we have new institutions to devote themselves to the European agenda, as by dedicating ourselves to the European agenda they can move ahead of this agenda, and we can show how the state we are a serious ally”, Krasniqi stressed.

Even the executive director of the Committee for Jury and Political Studies, Abren Loxha, has demanded that we have the new government's creation as soon as possible.

Loxha told Kosovo Press that the creation of new Kosovo institutions is affecting all the reform and integration processes of Kosovo.

Loja: New institutions lack also impacts SAA implementation

We have more than a month and a half since the election ended, and we still have no coalition established, that is, government creation and consolidation of the Kosovo Assembly. This produces consequences in some respects, of course it will even negatively affect all the reform and integration processes of Kosovo. And in this case the SAA, the National Plan for SAA Implementation, which only its implementation has been disappointing. This is because political will has been lacking, such reforming processes require great political will, and with the lack of establishment of institutions affected by implementation PKSMSA's... Besides, the SAA will be hampered by other reform processes, and we have an example of justice sector, which has remained without reform and many reforming processes have started and for which nothing has been done and with the creation of the new government we can also see a return to the zer o“point, Loxha said.

GLPS Director Abren Loxha said the lack of progress in European integration is also damaging Kosovo's image.

Loja: Lack of progress in integration process is damaging Kosovo's image

The lack of progress in the integration and reforming process in general, of course, damages Kosovo's image on the other side of the diplomatic level, we are already undergoing defeat from Serbia in its campaign against recognising Kosovo's independence or consolidating its citizenship and, of course, in front of EU institutions, the lack of political will in this case also leaves all integration processes behind and, of course, negatively portrays the image of Kosovo”, she stressed.

And according to political analyst Ramush Tahiri, the journey of Kosovo towards the European Union is complicated.

He told Kosova Preris that by this time we had to have governments formed.

Tahiri: So far we have to have governments

“So far it has had to be formed, while for Euro-Atlantic integration the process is more complicated because Kosovo has not international subjectivity yet and Kosovo has separate procedures for European integration. Unfortunately, what Kosovo needs is visa liberalisation, which is not coming”, Tahiri said.

Kosovo citizens on 6 October addressed the ballot boxes to elect Kosovo's next prime minister and Kosovo Assembly deputies. This process was estimated to go well, but then after many recount complaints, about 90 percent of the polling took place.
