Aseel Muthana, now 22, was only 17 years old when she left a half-time job as an ice cream salesman to join the so-called Islamic State in Syria.
The man from Cardiff who left the United Kingdom to join the so-called Islamic State group and is being held in a Syrian prison has said he would like to return to Britain.
At the age of 17, Aseel Muthana began to join his older brother, Nasser, in Syria.
In an interview for Channel 4 News from a crowded prison in northern Syria, Muthana said he would prefer the prison sentence to hold in the United Kingdom, saying everything is better than here.
The 22-year-old added that he still has ambitions to make a difference, writes BBC.
I didn't think twice at first because my brother who joined them, I asked my brother, told Dutch journalist Janan Andndert.
Shortly after arriving in Syria in 2014, Muthana had told the BBC that it was he who enjoyed being there and was willing to die for the group.
He said he left Great Britain because he wanted to help the Syrians by claiming to have worked as an interpreter for the Islamic group, and that he was not among those fighting the US-backed Kurdish forces.
Muthana said he would prefer to return to Britain even if he spent decades in prison, adding: “Everything's better than here. At least if I come back, they give you rights.
Asked if he blames someone for his current situation, he said he blames only himself.
I was 17 years old, but old enough to get on a plane and come here,” he said.
I wanted to be a teacher when I was young. When I was 17, that was my goal, and so far it was my goal, although my chances are limited.
But, if I ever leave, I don't know, I'll try to make the difference I think of”, he said. /Periscopi/
