Campaign Against Violence Begins

On the occasion of the International Day for Elimination of Violence on Women, today in Pristina the UN Women organisation will open the “16-day campaign of activism against gender-based violence”, which will be associated with the lighting of the National Public Library “Pier Bogdani” in orange. “16 days of activism against gender-based violence” [...]
“16 days of activism against gender-based violence” is an international annual campaign that begins on November 25th International Day of Elimination of Violence on Women and lasts until December 10th, the Day of Human Rights.
Every year, the world's ikeonic buildings are lit in orange to raise global attention to the threat of violence against women and girls.
High profile officials from local and international institutions and organisations will participate in this ceremony, while attendees will be addressed by Alia El-Yassir, regional director of UN Women of Europe and Central Asia, as well as Ulrika Richardson, Development Co-ordinator from the United Nations Team in Kosovo.
In the case of the opening of this campaign, sensationalising gear will be organised in Gjakova, which will be held by 12:30.
The marching participants will be launched from the current facility of the Gjakova municipality and will continue walking to the Small Carshia.
The task is co-ordinated by members of the Co-ordination Mechanism Against Family Violence (MKKDHF) and Youth Action Council volunteers (KVRL) Bleeding.
In contrast, the United Nations General Assembly has set November 25 as the International Day for Elimination of Women After the death of three Dominican sisters who fought for a free and separate place from the dictatorship of the day.
According to the UN, 35% of women and girls on a global scale experience one form of violence exercised against this gender.
