EU chief in Kosovo Ambassador Apostolova will participate in a family violence debate in northern Mitrovica tomorrow
The debate will be held as part of a series of discussions of “gender chats: Because we make the difference” for gender equality across Kosovo.
Gender talks aim to boost awareness, contribute to change of mind and improve gender equality policies in Kosovo.
The debate aims to highlight the main issues facing victims of domestic violence, such as insufficient support, and to bring about a change of policies.
At the moment, social services are inadequately equipped to deal with this issue, and the work of civil society organisations has been reduced to daily care, including limited psychological and legal assistance.
A shelter for the victims' housing is planned for northern Kosovo, while the strategy for dealing with the issue is still lacking.
