Since Montenegro is a country that has opened negotiations with the European Union, such commitment would be too much for it.
But, Montenegro announced it would continue to be in contact with Western Balkan leaders and countries to continue with the performance of economic development and the signing of different regional agreements. Such an approach is needed for Albania.
That is the opinion of the Professor of International Relations at Columbia University in the United States. David Phillips, who has given his opinion on some of the most important events in Albania, speaks in a premonition to the newspaper “Century”
Asked about what Albania's priorities should be about its position in the Western Balkans region and relations with neighbours, Prof. Phillips said Albania should focus on strengthening ties with those countries in which Albanians live.
So this call is indirectly directed for relations between Kosovo and Albania.
As to what should be Albania's top priority, Mr. Phillips, pointed out just one fact: Albania's priority must be the Albanian nation.
David Phillips Prodoncing
“Albanians should focus on strengthening ties with all of Albania's neighbours by promoting the link wherever Albanians live in Western Balkan countries.
Co-operation among Albanians does not prevent the development of common ground with other countries or broader Euro-Atlantic integration. However, the Albanian nation must be priority”.
