At least 24 people have died after a passenger plane crashed into the homes of Goma City in the Democratic Republic of Congo, local officials say.
Residents on the ground, including four members of one family, were among the victims.
The small plane landed in the Mapendo neighbourhood after losing its lift from the city's airport Sunday morning, said Kivu regional governor Nzanzu Kasiva.
Officials say 17 passengers and two crew members were on the plane.
Air accidents are relatively frequent in the Democratic Republic of Congo amid poor security standards and poor maintenance, as well as all of the country's commercial carriers are barred from operating in the European Union.
