This, according to a report Friday in the New York Times newspaper, citing two anonymous people aware of the investigation.
One of the Times' sources says the investigation concerns Mr. Giuliani's efforts to undermine former US Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch.
Two businessmen in Florida linked to Giuliani were charged Thursday with violating federal law for financing campaigns.
The two had major roles in Giuliani's efforts to launch a corruption investigation into Ukraine against Democrat President Joe Biden and his son Hunter.
An informant for the involvement of President Trump and Ukraine has led to an investigation of Congress for the president's possible dismissal.
