White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney told reporters that President Trump will not benefit from the event.
He said the “Brent of Trump is perhaps so strong” that he doesn't need an instigation.
Trump's property, National Doral Miami, is located 13 km from Miami Airport.
Mulvaney told reporters Thursday that a preliminary team of scouts had observed possible locations for the summit in many countries like California, Colorado, Hawaii, Florida, North Carolina, Michigan, Tennessee and Utah.
The “and it became clear at the end of this process that Doral is the best place to hold the” meeting, he said.
