Men aged 28 and 22-year-olds were swimming on the islands of the Queensland region when they were attacked by the shark on Tuesday.
Australian doctors said the shark attacked two tourists on foot. They received medical treatment first on the beach, and later they were taken to the hospital.
More recent shark attacks have been recorded on these islands. Australian authorities said the attacked men are from England.
“One of the patients was first attacked and is believed to have returned the shark later to attack the other”, said an Ambulator Service spokeswoman in Queensland.
The attack took place at Hook Passage, about six miles [10 km] from where an Australian was killed by a shark in November last year.
Two other shark attacks were recorded near the same island in September last year.
Experts say that sharks can approach the coast because of the activity of fishermen and water pollution. These dangerous carnivorous creatures are usually more active during the twilight, writes “BBC”, Report Express.
