Spanish police have published images of the operation that last week led to the grip of an Albanian gang specialising in stealing luxury dwellings.
As part of the “Operation Youth” co-ordinated with Europol, three Kosovars and a Spanish citizen were detained, while a fifth person of Albanian origin has been declared on the run.
Research into the criminal group began after reporting that many dwellings in central areas of Madrid and the districts were falling prey to robberies without detection.
Some of the callers were football players of famous Spanish teams such as Atletico or Real of Madrid.
Authorities said the group's characteristic was the only month's stay in Spain, while later leaving in countries of origin where they allegedly held the same criminal activity.
Due to frequent shift in homes, vehicles and contact numbers, authorities faced difficulties tracking their movements.
It is learned that the authors cooperated with a silversmith in Madrid with whom they exchanged ornaments and items stolen with a quantity of gold.
Eight luxury cars, robbery equipment, silverware, money, and electronic scales were seized during the arrest operation.
One of the gang leaders is thought to be Albanian-known by authorities even in 2007 for the violent theft of a Spanish businessman and producer.
