Turkey has carried out a military offensive in northern Syria in order to remove Kurdish fighters from that area, whom it considers a terrorist.
The ruling coalition in Germany has had doubts about how to respond to the Turkish offensive.
The Social Democrats have rejected a proposal by Defence Minister Annegret Kramp-Carrenbauer to create a secure “ ” area from the United Nations, in the Syria-Turkey border zone.
The Turkish offensive in Syria has been interrupted after reaching a ceasefire agreement, which the United States and Russia have brokered.
Turkey and Russia have also reached an agreement to pull 30km off the Turkish-Siri border, Kurdish fighters.
