French President Emmanuel Macron is expected to visit Albania and North Macedonia next month.
In his public comment after blocking the opening of negotiations with these countries, he indicated he would meet with prime ministers Rama and Zaev to talk about reforms and steps these countries must take.
With his visit, Macro appears to be intent on testifying to Albania and Macedonia that the European perspective of these countries is open and France will help achieve that goal.
A diplomatic source in Tirana said there are still no details on this visit, as it has been recently established and still remains a promise in principle.
“Diplomatic Source confirmed that as a sign of France's support for Albania, President Makron has set the opening in Tirana of the office of the French Development Agency, which will implement France's support for development projects in Albania. Likely, this step could mark increased French aid, which so far has not been Albania's significant donor. Makron had originally planned to visit Albania in the fall of 2018 on a Balkan tour, but this tour was canceled. Makron visited Serbia on 16 July, following the Paris Summit annulment in connection with Serbia-Kosovo negotiations. Once again, he chose to avoid Albania. It seems that the critical reaction of many European countries to the French veto of Albania, and especially towards northern Macedonia has prompted Makroni to finally visit both countries “- reports Top Channel forwards Kosovo Clan.
