The walk began from the “German Bridge”. After walking, all participants have gathered at the fountain to discuss with representatives of partner organisations for current policies on maternity leave.
This walk was arranged to make known that both parents have an important role in their children's lives and to remove gender stereos, which view women as the only two that can and should care for children.
Milaim Morina, representative of the Centre for Political and Avokim, said that along with three partner organisations, the Federations of Health Unions and Development Democracy, have organised “The Parental Action”, gender equality, and the division of generals that have to do with joint parenting.
“Common parenting is a prerequisite for the division of generalities related to equal separation of women and husband rights for their children. This activity is aimed at awareness of citizens in order to precede the legal changes that will be regulated through a special law regulating parental rest -- that is, permission of lehonia”, he said.
Morina added that this activity has been called “Parental Action”, to make a kind of sensibility to citizens, but even institutional acts that are competent for legal changes and policies related to maternity leave and gender equality.
Hajrullah Qek, as a young parent, said this activity is the effort of civil society and people who think a little differently and that parental rights must be separated because the child is shared.
“This activity today is a kind of call for institutions that seriously consider the issue of barking and parental rest that this obligation to be divided between mother and father equally to be raised so as to mark but also women to follow their activities and I believe that with the new institutions of Kosovo, this is not going to be unknown to the new parliament and the new government and to understand once and for all that the child is not more of a mother and less of a father but is the same child for both parents and should be equal to the two, Qek said.
He also told the men, as well as women, that space should be offered to balance professional life with private and the possibility of being part of child care.
