Limaj: October 1st protests precede KLA glorious war

Social Democrat Initiative Chairman Fatmir Limaj has been commemorating today the October 1st protests of 1997, where thousands of Pristina University students and university professors protested the streets of Pristina, conveying the message that Albanians would no longer bear the violation of fundamental freedoms and rights that were imposed by the Serbian regime. [...]
The October 1st <x0th developments and other protests have preceded the glorious war of the Kosovo Liberation Army and have become the source of inspiration for many generations”, Limaj writes on Facebook. He said the October 1st protests are evidence of the freedom sacrifice, and that Kosovo's liberation has been achieved by effort and efforts by many generations.
Otherwise, such protests are considered one of the most important acts of the day.
The 1997 Student Movement, led by Bujar Dugolli, Muhamet Mavrej, Dritton Lajci and Albin Kurti, supported and by University of Pristina Rector Ejup Statovci, as well as by several professors, had ended the peaceful policy of the Albanian people towards the Serbian regime.
This movement is estimated to have sensationalised the international opinion that the KLA originated with the lyrical people of Kosovo.
