The demonstrators joined Tripoli in Goma, a 131 - mile [171 km] chain crossing the capital, Beirut, where the protests have focused as part of an unprecedented mobilization on sectarian lines.
Tension has increased in recent days between security forces and protesters, who have blocked roads and led the country to bans to tighten their demands for an overhaul of the political system.
The revolted political elite in Lebanon has defended a delayed economic change law and appears ready to reshuffle the government, but protesters who have been standing on the street since 17 October want more.
